Welcome to Pacific Media Expo, the largest show dedicated to Asian Media and Pop Culture in the United States! We welcome all members of the press, both professional and amateur alike. Press Pass Registration Print E-mail

A Press Badge allows us to identify you as a member of the press.

Typically, the benefits of a Press Badge are:

  • Full complimentary PMX06 membership.
  • Preferred access to Guest of Honor interview panels.
  • Reserved seating for special events (Cosplay Festival (CosFest), Concerts...)
  • Permission to take photos or videotape special events (with accepted restrictions).

If you are interested in attending Pacific Media Expo as a member of the press, please submit a Press Pass Registration form. Once accepted, you will be notified and offered access to archived press assets. When you arrive at the convention, please pick up your badge at the Press Office. Without your press badge, you will not have access to the convention. After the convention, we would appreciate a courtesy copy of your coverage for our records.

Please note: press badges will not be granted without a valid picture ID and the following:

 1. 
Press Credential. You MUST provide this item! No application will be considered without a current Press Credential.
 2. 

Articles you have written featuring your byline. Word document printouts will not be accepted. The article must be in some sort of printed material. (i.e. magazines, newspaper or books.)
 3. 

Professional association membership cards in your name; your business card with a letter of introduction on company letterhead from the media organization you represent.
 4. 

A printout of your Press Pass Registration Receipt Page (the final confirmation page you see when you submit a Press Pass Registration form).
 
Press Qualifications Print E-mail
Traditional Press Application
The publication has to be in publication before January 1, 2004, with at least a 7,500 circulation per issue. The publication must be published at least quarterly.

Media and Freelance Press Badge Application
If you are a freelance writer/journalist/photographer, please send us copies of your work along with your business card and a letter of introduction on company letterhead. Include an official photo identification showing your name and date of birth.

Broadcast Media
If you are a broadcast journalist or photographer, please include a letter from a producer/editor on company letterhead stating that you are covering Pacific Media Expo on assignment. Include an official photo identification showing your name and date of birth.

Documentaries
If you are filming for a documentary, submit any clips that you may have completed, a list of completed projects and a letter of introduction on company letterhead stating the purpose of the documentary. Include an official photo identification showing your name and date of birth.

Webzine Press Badge Application
  • The website have to be live prior to January 1, 2004
  • 10,000 hits/month and at least 5,000 unique visitors per month. Please provide a live link to your statistics page.
  • The webzine is updated weekly.
  • The webzine must be focused on news or reviews.
  • The webzine have to cover at least one of the following: Asian Culture (Reviews, critiques or discussions.) Asian Entertainment (Asian cinema, music or movies.)

Press Policy on Concerts and Live Performances Print E-mail
PMX will comp one (1) concert ticket per press member per affiliation per day. One (1) photographer from each organization will also be permitted. If you have multiple registrants, please email Jinnie in advance regarding which reporter and photographer will represent your organization. Exceptions will be rare and approved solely by the Press Manager.

Press attending concerts must check in at least two hours prior. Check ins after the two hour limit may not be honored. All Press comps will be in ‘D’ level unless noted otherwise.

Press choosing to purchase higher level and/or additional tickets will still be granted and held to all media privileges and requirements.

Concert requirements/restrictions

Generally, photography is limited to the first three songs of each performance and only from the area between the barricades and the stage. Video coverage is limited to one minute. Specific restrictions for each show will be available at check in. Your agreement to honor them will be required before you are given your wristband/ticket.

Dress Code
Due to the special circumstances surrounding this event, a dress code of at least business class is strongly encouraged:
– Women: suit or tailored dress in conservative colors/necklines, closed-toe shoes and tasteful jewelry.
– Men: conservative suit (not a sports coat), long-sleeved shirt, dress shoes and dark socks. 

Business casual will also be permissible, especially for camera crews and the like. Barring that, avoid t-shirts, shorts, sandals and jeans, please. 

Conduct
Novala Takemoto will be available for a press conference and private interviews, but during this time you are asked to cover the event and refrain from approaching him for questions.

Press choosing to participate in this event (and thus not cover it) must adhere to all proper Lolita guidelines and pay a reduced ticket fee. Email the Press Manager for more details. 

 
At-Con Press Registration and Hours Print E-mail

We are located in ProgOps: San Lorenzo D.

 If you are already registered, you may pick up your badges at the following times:

Friday: 6p.m. to 8p.m.
Saturday: 8a.m. to 6p.m.
Sunday: 8a.m. to 4p.m.

What to bring to claim badges:
1. A photo ID. I reserve the right to deny passes if a photo ID is not provided.
2. Credentials and/or email waiver (if applicable)
3. Registration confirmation number printout.

Please note: For identification purposes, you may only pick up your own badge.

If you have not registered yet and wish to do so at con, please bring your credentials, any hardcopy samples/clips you can provide and a photo ID.
